Ajay Samir

Ajay Samir

Completed a Masters in Fine Arts from Delhi College of Art, Ajay has achieved cosiderable renown in his field. He works in a black and white palette, his paintings have glimpses of light & shadow, highlighted with poignant textures and colours on expressive facets of human experiences in iconic figuration. Blending tradition with modern realities, allowing hues to naturally adapt patterns, they oscillate around detailing textures, decors of idioms, and linear motifs, symbolizing sensitivity of women, along with conjuring dreamlike memories of nature. Man’s ability to conceptualize and express thoughts is seen in art, with elements of lines, colours, suggestive harmony, rhythmic movements, cultivating instinct, and institutions. These elements come to the fore in Ajay Kumar Samir’s exceptional art. One finds stylistic conceptual themes in lyrical narratives of human drama in his works. His works are in the collection of many Indian and foreign collectors and NGMA, Delhi.

The artist, however, observes the magnified version of nature where the colours exists, but in the form of tiny particles fragmented and distorted ,He sees the texture, the tone, the line, the beauty in a fascinatingly distinctive way. His painting is full of his love for nature. He depicts this in thousands of small tiny forms, shapes, tones and textures, and each of them has a meaning for him. Dilip Choudhary

Dilip Choudhary

Chaudhary is a renowned Indian artist born in Kolkata, West Bengal. He is very well acclaimed across the globe for his proficiency in arts. He works in diverse mediums like watercolours, oils, however he prefers acrylics over others and hence, most of his works are done in it. His art is known for limited usage of colours, tones and shades. Moreover, he also avoids using contrasting colours which is why most of his works are done using basic single colours like red, blue and green or the classic black and white contrast. A peculiar combination of urban and rustic life appears as one of the best amalgamations to Dilip, and the same are depicted through his works. More so, they deliver a swift transition from past to future and the ever changing lifestyle including that of cities. The old charm of rich cultural cities like Kolkata and Banaras have a beguiling effect on him. He attempts to evoke nostalgia by painting these cities in their full glory and golden times. Dilip’s works are adored by masters of art and usually found in their private collections. He has earned numerous accolades for his works but he is someone who does not sit on his laurels and always strives to create something innovative.

Ranjit Sarkar

Ranjit Sarkar

Born in Kolkatta, Ranjit’s works have dramatic representation with a constant exploration in mutation of mythology and religious character. Deeply moved by the persistent issues of society, Ranjit is inspired by subjects like existence and co-existence of individuals with contrast ideologies, changing philosophies with the passage of time, and various personal experiences. He uses the canvas to vent out and express his ideas of existence and concern towards the intense struggle for survival. He yearns to seek answers to his questions that have affected his sensitive being and inspired him to use these issues as a core subject of his works. Ranjit’s color palette goes very well with the mood of the subjects he intends to portray along with layers of textures.

Shyamal Mukherjee

Shyamal Mukherjee

Shyamal Mukherjee is an artist who has spent his entire life in Calcutta. He spent his college years in Santiniketan, first completing his BFA in 1987, and then his MFA in 1989 from the Rabindra Bharati University. In Mukherjee`s work, we see the Bengal School strong figurative tradition being carried ahead and interpreted in a very contemporary idiom. Mukherjee says he loves to travel alone to new places on buses and trains since, "Most of my inspiration comes from observing people." It`s not surprising that every figure in his body of works has a separate and interesting story to tell. Most of the people Mukherjee paints are performers of some type, putting on an act for everyone else - something all of us do everyday of our lives. Mukherjee`s figures are dressed in the bright, almost gaudy orange, red and green costumes that street performers wear, but their eyes are gazing and drawn, their faces almost cartoon like and their fingers podgy, making the irony and pathos that surrounds them extremely evident. The artist also likes to focus on the fact that each individual has a great deal in common with every other one. This is why he paints people in pairs or larger groups, highlighting that though they are physically separate and unlike each other, there is no real difference between their characters and behaviours. Mukherjee`s favourite medium is reverse oil or acrylic painting on transparent acrylic sheets.

Srikant Kadam

Srikant Kadam

Kadam is in love with the sanctity of nature. The artist in him is in raptures over the aloof mountains, gushing rivers, intense seas, and primal, pristine forests. Kadam's works are a life-long exploration of a world between realism and abstraction, veering closer to the latter. The artist mixes shapes and colors into rough configurations that don't exactly clamor for attention but nevertheless envelope the viewer with their gentle allure. With strokes that are neither geometric nor too organic, Kadam achieves a resoundingly strong composition. The orientation and earthy colors suggest a landscape, the aesthetic paint strokes confirming that impression. The artist's tryst with nature jumps out of each frame; every frame is reconstructed as if from memory, of his vision of the Himalayas or a water body long buried by time. Kadam's compositions are unhindered, the expansiveness of the images is not negated resulting in his frames retaining a quality a pristine, soft and spiritual as nature itself. His strategy of working with a sparse palette not only brings forth the best in his canvases but also showcases his exceptional understanding of color. The blues, greens and muted oranges and browns make for a peaceful vision. Whether Kadam's elements let you into their conversation or not, you feel contended in their company. Shrikant Kadam completed his General Diploma in painting from the Abhinava Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune in 1995, followed by his Bachelor's degree in the same from the College of Fine Art, Pune, in 2008. He also completed a Diploma in Art Education from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, in 1996.
